2016 proved to be great for wine industry and Mt. Vernon
2016 was a very good year for wine production in Auburn, across the state and the nation.
If you visited us anytime last year, you know what kind of local success we enjoyed. From our special events to our awesome wine tasting opportunities, we think 2016 was a banner year for us – a year in which we were named the Best of the Best by the Auburn Journal! And we foresee another spectacular year at Mt. Vernon in 2017.
For a global perspective on how well the California wine industry is doing, a look at U.S. wine exports tells the entire story. Wine exports, 90 percent of which came out of California, reached $1.62 billion in winery venues last year, according to the Wine Institute. That represent a full percentage point increase from the prior year.
In terms of volume, that’s 412.7 million liters or 45.9 million cases of wine.
“California wines are well positioned for this trend,” said Robert P. (Bobby) Koch, Wine Institute President and CEO. “Our vintners are offering quality, value, diverse styles and environmental stewardship in their winemaking.”
Mt. Vernon Winery is no exception. We offer a mix great wines, from Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and a variety of blends. We have a little bit of everything to satisfy your preferences.
The good news coming out of of the wine industry is a reflection on our customers, who enjoy our events. Our upcoming Wine Cave Dinners and May 6 “Blues, Bottles, and Bacon” event will showcase our collection of Mt. Vernon wines. Make sure you stop by!
