The Estate
Mt.Vernon winery has the capacity to destem and crush wine grapes at eight tons per hour and our holding tanks can store nearly 10,000 gallons of wine. The wine cave is currently storing nearly 200 barrels of French and American oak aged wine.
The harvest of 2002 will reap approximately 35-40 tons of crushed grapes. 2002 is the year of the first harvest of estate grown Zinfandel of 6 acres. The estate has plenty of room to grow with approximately 31 total acres. More vineyards are planned for the future.
The tasting room is an old restored milk house originally built in 1950. Jim and Lynda Taylor purchased their estate unaware of the incredible possibilities the rich and nurtured land would hold for their winery. Mt.Vernon is commited to meticulous vineyard management resulting in a small but spectacular production of their estate bottled wines.
