Here’s the wine lineup for our Oct. 21 Wine Cave Dinner

Events 🕔October 13, 2017 0 comments

Mt. Vernon is hosting its cherished Wine Cave Dinner in just a couple of weeks.

We’ve already released the exciting menu for this special event. You can view it here.

For those not familiar with our Wine Cave Dinners, you’re in for an evening you won’t forget anytime soon.

The dinner is prepared in front of our guests inside our estate Wine Cave. Chef Glen Johnson, of Under the Canape Catering, assembles the five-course meal featuring locally grown ingredients.

We are excited that we are pairing each course with the finest beverages.

Here are the wines that we’re going to pair with the evening’s dishes.

2007 BCR Syrah

Mt. Vernon’s 2007 BCR Syrah, a library wine, is made from fruit from the Monarch Mine Vineyard in Placer County at 2,300 feet. What you’ll notice about this wine is how easy and soft it is on the palate. Not only is it a great wine, but it’s for a great cause. We introduced the wine as a fundraiser with proceeds going toward breast cancer research.

Z*PS*S

If you’re wondering about this fine wine’s name, here’s your answer. Mt Vernon brings the best of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Syrah with this amazing blend. Half Zinfandel, 25 percent Petite Sirah and Syrah, this wine is 100 percent amazing.

2012 Cabernet Franc

Our 2012 Cabernet Franc was grown at Clos Du Lac vineyard in Placer County. This is a special varietal. We have been making it since 2001. In fact, we opened up a 2002 bottle from this vineyard recently, and it’s still holding quite nicely! Once you sample the wine, you’ll be quick to pick up on the cedar box spice and ample fruit flavors.

2013 Merlot Napa Valley

Our guests are in for a treat. Mt. Vernon only produced eight barrels of our 2013 Merlot! It’s smooth and easy to drink and features fruity characteristics with a smoky and vanilla finish.

2016 Late Harvest Viognier

Just like our 2013 Merlot, we also only released a limited amount of the 2016 Late Harvest Viognier. This wine will get your attention with its honey and apricot aromas.
